We have also continued our successful activities
in promoting renewable energies, in 2012, with a
focal point on solar energy. With the signing of a
Memorandum of Understanding in May 2012 by
the Minister of Public Works, Djoko Kirmanto, the
Government of Indonesia formally accepted the
invitation by the German Federation Association
(VDMA) and the trade fair organizer of bauma, Messe
München International, to become partner country of
the largest construction and mining fair of the world
in April 2013. Next to all these highlights our regular
events and programs like Get Together, Human
Capital Club, the Green Cabbage and our Asparagus
Dinner, were conducted successfully. EKONID also
pressed ahead the development of our branch office
in Surabaya, Wisma Jerman, a co-operation with the
Goethe-Institut supported by the German Embassy.
Not only business events were held in Surabaya, also
the first Oktoberfest was launched by our team in
East Java.
On the European level, the cooperation between the
European Chambers and the European Delegation to
Indonesia has come to a very effective level. Within the
EU-Active program, EKONID and the other European
Chambers BritCham, IFCCI and INA worked together
with KADIN and APINDO to prepare and socialize the
Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement
(DEPA) between Indonesia and the European Union.
The main event in this regards was the third European
Indonesia Business Dialogue (EIBD) on November 8
and 9 in Bali, with 250 representatives from the private
sector sharing their experience and address their
recommendations to the highest government levels,
represented by the Indonesian Ministers for Industry
and Trade, Mohamad Hidayat and Gita Wirjawan,
and the ECs’ Head of Trade relations with South and
Southeast Asia, Mrs. Helena König.
On the ASEAN level, the ASEAN Economic Community
(AEC) is about to become closer in 2015 and the
German Chambers of Commerce and Industry reacted
in 2012 by launching a comprehensive dialogue
platform to strengthen regional cooperation and to
support trade and investments, the German-ASEAN
Chamber Network (GACN), during the Asia Pacific
Conference (APK) of the German industry in November
in New Delhi / India, witnessed by the German Federal
Minister Dr. Philipp Rösler and the Chief Executive
Director of the DIHK, Martin Wansleben.
But not everything was about business in 2012. JERIN,
the German-Indonesian event series organized
by the German Embassy, the Goethe-Institut and
EKONID together with other partners celebrated the
60 years of diplomatic German-Indonesian relations
with tremendous figures and feedbacks from tens
of thousands of participants in large variety of
cultural, social, political and economic events all over
Indonesia.
This Annual Report will provide more detailed
information about these and many more activities
conducted by EKONID in 2012.
