These political encounters are part of a continuous
and constructive dialogue between the German
and European business community and Indonesian
government representatives. The aim was to
convey the view of the business sector on certain
political and regulatory decions and their impacts
of the past, offer support in discussing new policies
and try to get a feeling where the new government
and its branches are heading towards.
In various settings and with various partner
institution EKONID paid courtesy visits and
encountered the following ministers throughout
the year: Minister of Transportation, H.E.
Ignasius Jonan; Minister of Industry, H.E. Saleh
Husin; Minister of Finance, H.E. Bambang
Brodjonegoro; Minister of Energy, H.E. Surdiman
Said; Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs,
H.E. Sofyan Djalil; Minister of State Owned
Enterprises, H. E. Rini Soemarno; Minister of
Foreign Affairs, H.E. Retno Marsudi; Minister
of Trade, H.E. Thomas Lembong as well
as number of senior government officials,
Deputy Ministers and Director Generals.
Among the topics discussed at the meetings
were fiscal incentives for export oriented
companies in Indonesia, the implementation
of National Standards (SNI), particularly in the
automotive industry; the development of the
Chemical Law draft; the implementation of the
Halal Law; and investment incentives. Furthermore,
custom procedures; utilization of tax incentive
policies; update on the new fuel subsidy and
government plan to impose price ban for fuel; as
well as agriculture subsidy. Also possible quick
wins in lowering logistic costs and how to enhance
logistics efficiency in Indonesia.
