sealings, which are used in cabinets for electronics and electrical

locking technology with a turnover of 237 Million Euro with
approximately 1400 employees worldwide.
Salzgitter AG
In South East Asia Salzgitter AG is represented by Salzgitter
Mannesmann International Asia Pte. Ltd., a subsidiary of
the business unit Trading. The Singapore-based company
joined Ekonid in January 2015 and the aspired office-in-

this cooperation the company can pursue intensive market
research and market entry preparations with a lean and cost
efficient set-up and a contemporary office infrastructure
provided within the premises of EKONID in Jakarta.
Throughout 2017, the Corporate Services department
continued its support for various German and Indonesian
companies. In answering a multitude of inquiries, the
department noted a significant increase in the volume of
enquiries regarding dispute resolution, intellectual property,
employment law matters and import licenses – including for
both general and special import licenses. The increase shows
that the Corporate Services department is still highly needed
in assisting companies that are looking to navigate through
Indonesia’s exceptionally complex bureaucratic processes.
A marked majority of the inquiries covers a range of
businesses that include manufacturing services, medical
devices industry, pharmaceutical, as well as trading companies.
In 2017, more companies expressed their commitment to
creating a limited liability company or
perseroan terbatas
(PT)
than in previous years. This also shows that German companies
are still highly interested in investing in Indonesia, despite the
aforementioned bureaucreatic challenges.
“It’s always very good to hear from new and
returning clients on their business expansion
plans in Indonesia. It’s a point of personal pride
for me to able to assist our clients navigate
through Indonesia’s bureaucratic jungle”
Cassandra S. Paulira
Head of Corporate Services
In 2017, Corporate Services also continued its advocacy
of client and members companies. A number of high profile
topics that the department had had the opportunity to discuss
with relevant governmental bodies include the issue of import
licensing and the identification of specific business categories
that carries different definitions in between the two countries.
We will continue to take such advocacy measures to ensure
that German companies are able to do their business in
Indonesia smoothly.
Feedback from clients reveals that EKONID’s Corporate
Services provides qualitatively good support and good cost-
to-benefit-ratio. This is demonstrated by the numerous
requests taken in on matters beyond corporate law such as
working permits for expatriates. This service will continue to
be rendered within the allowed capacity.
This coming year, the Corporate Services Department will
continue to focus on completing existing ongoing projects.
