HIGHLIGHTS
The ‘Renewables – Made in Germany’ initiative visited
Jakarta on October 24

. Designed as a three days
event, the German-Indonesian Renewable Energy Days
started by a two days conference with a specific focus on
biomass technologies and their application in Indonesia
and was followed by two workshops dedicated to Solar
and Hydro Power technologies. Over three hundred and
fifty participants attended the three days, composing
a high level audience from both the public and the
private sectors and affirming once again the interest
in the renewable energy sector and a deeper German-
Indonesian cooperation.
Prominent German and Indonesian speakers from
the private sector as well as German and Indonesian
governmental representatives attended the event and
covered a wide range of topics. The current Indonesian
market potentials as well as its government policies
and challenges were largely discussed and Germany’s
experience in terms of promotion of renewable energy
was highlighted. Furthermore, project developers from
both countries did share their practical experience
through concrete case studies, exchanging on how to
jointly develop the huge potential of the Indonesian bio-
energy sector.
The event was the product of a close collaboration
between EKONID and the GIZ. The combination of GIZ
technical know-how and EKONID’s experience and
business expertise was indeed calling for success. But the
achievement was beyond expectations - the unexpected
high number of participants, the quality of the
presentations and the discussions, the good organization
– and will lead to new joint projects between the two
German organizations.
Ekonid welcomed at the same time a business delegation
composed of German companies specialized in the
renewable energy sector. They had the unique opportunity
to present their products but as well to discuss potential
business partnerships with Indonesian companies.
The German Indonesian Renewable Energy Days were held in the InterContinental Hotel MidPlaza in Jakarta, October
