The fast growing Indonesian economy appears more
and more appealing to European businesses and the
Business Development department coped in 2011
with an increasing number of enquiries from German
companies willing to expand their business activities
in Indonesia.
The Business Development department provided
those companies with the necessary market entry
information, helped them in finding potential business
partners and assisted them in developing their projects.
Its range of proposed services went from market
research to business partner search, organization and
assistance in business meetings, product presentation
and workshops.
In 2011, the Business Development department
welcomed six business delegations specialized in
different sectors of activities: mining but as well
machinery or chemicals. A special focus was given
to the field of environment and renewable energies.

management in October. At the same time, an in-depth
market study of the biomass sector was conducted,
leading to the visit of 8 German companies to Indonesia
and a conference attended by 350 participants.
Further to those business delegations, the Business
Development department organized partners’ search
for numerous visiting individual companies. Besides the
B2B meetings, BD provided market entry information
either through workshops’ format or market studies.
Not only does the Business Development department
assist the German companies, but it provides as well
the necessary information to the Indonesian ones,
members or non members. Furthermore, in 2011,
several workshops and country presentations were
organized in Germany in order to promote Indonesia.
The Business Development department achieved as
well the second year of the Clean Batik Initiative. In
action in two new provinces and cities (Cirebon in
West Java and Pekalongan in Central Java), CBI has
successfully assisted an additional 202 batik SMEs in
implementing cleaner production practices.
