ANNUAL REPORT
2011
For EKONID, 2011 was exciting and
extraordinary; this report gives a brief
overview of the main activities throughout
the year.
The Indonesian – German economic
relationship thrived in 2011, the bilateral
trade volume grew y-o-y by estimated 10
percent to almost five point five (5.5) billion
Euro, making Germany once again the biggest
trading partner of Indonesia in Europe, while
German foreign direct investments reached
estimated USD 200 Million.
Six business and approximately fifteen
political delegations visiting Indonesia in
2011 are indicating an increasing interest in
bilateral cooperation, not seen in the last 15
Dear EKONID Members,
years after Indonesia’s successful democratic
transformation. EKONID continued to support
companies looking to do business and
contributed to bilateral business promotion
with its participation in eight events in
Germany and four within Southeast Asia.
Our social and networking events took
place throughout the year; with EKONID’s
classics, like Get Together, Grünkohlessen,
Spargelessen, and the Summer Party as
well as joint events with partners like the
Indonesian German Circle (IGC) for example
jointly hosting CIMB NIAGA President
Director, Arwin Rasyid.
A whole new dimension of event cooperation
was archived in 2011 by the German Embassy,
