by around 40 delegates namely all
Managing Directors from the German
Chambers of Commerce of Asia, Asia-Pacific
and Africa (AAA) as well as the ViceManaging
Director of DIHK, and some more high level
delegates from BDI, Ministry of Economics
and Technology (BMWi), Ministry of Foreign
Affairs (AA), GTAI and VDMA.
This event was followed by the first regional
dialog between the German organizations
for trade and investment promotion, like
EKONID, and the organizations involved in
development cooperation, like GIZ and KfW,
signaling the ever closer cooperation between
those two important aspects of German
foreign relation with its partner countries.
MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
AND THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
Together with the European chambers and
the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (KADIN), EKONID organized on
May 5
th
the first European-ASEAN Business
Summit (EABS) in 2011. This event presented
many prominent speakers, including H.E.
Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, H.E. Hatta
Rajasa, Coordinating Minister of Economy,
H.E. Mari Pangestu, (former) Minister of
Trade, and the European Commisioner for
Trade, Karel De Gucht as well as H.E. Dr. Surin
Pitsuwan, Secretary General of ASEAN.
The event highlight of the year was the official
state visit in December of the German Head
of State, H. E. Christian Wulff, when EKONID
had the honor to host a luncheon with the
President.
