The EIBN is set up by a consortium of five bilateral
chambers of commerce, besides EKONID, the lead
implementing partner: Brticham, INA, and IFCCI
on the Indonesian side; and EUROCHAMBRES and
CCI Barcelona on the European side. EuroCham
Indonesia, while listed as a partner in EIBN, is in fact
is exclusively responsible for the advocacy component
of the ICI+ programme in Indonesia.
After Year 1, partly dedicated to initial implementation,
EIBN developed a structure, corporate visibility, and
other tools which are now in full use by its team of 9
Project Officers and 3 Managers, based in four offices
in Jakarta and Europe. The EIBN Team was successful
in positioning the Project as an acknowledged
stakeholder among the European business
community in Indonesia, fully justifying the trust and
support of the EU Member States’ embassies and the
local EU Delegation.
Year 2 of EIBN was marked by strong focus on
outreach in Europe, having implemented numerous
activities in 16 different Member States, on its own
and alongside other similar projects also created
under the EU’s ICI+ programme in the ASEAN region.
This resulted in an extensive direct interaction
with EU companies, reflected in a sharp increase
of contacts, consultations, enquiries and services.
EIBN also moved forward with key local partners,
cooperating with local EU Members States embassies
to support their trade activities and establishing a
closer cooperation with relevant stakeholders, such as
BKPM, APINDO and KADIN.
The EIBN Web Portal was the target of several
improvements in Year 2. Manifesting considerable
traffic rates and registration numbers given
its specificity, it now functions as an integrated
depository for EIBN-produced market knowledge,
publications and newsletters, as well as an efficient
event and news source. Along with consolidating its
built-in enquiry handling system, EIBN launched
its online EIBN Business Directory (featuring all
member companies of its partner chambers) and the
interactive Virtual Marketplace. All resources and
content are freely available to registered EU SMEs.

exploitation. Through our web-based portal, which
contains all relevant information to do business in
Indonesia, we provide first hand information and add
value by offering sector-specific market research.
In addition, EIBN also organizes trade-missions
that includes Business Partner search, set up B2B
meetings as well as trade fair participation and
seminars and workshops.
After the launch of the AEC we also provide ASEAN
business information to help European decision
makers fully seize upon opportunities. Through
the organization and participation in dissemination
information events, such as the ASEAN-EU Business
Summit, we try to liaise with ASEAN stakeholders to
strengthen interregional cooperation.
Through events such as the EU-Indonesia Business
Dialogue conference as well as joint promotion events
with Indonesian trade agencies in the EU, Information
road shows in Europe, publications informing on local
and regional business conditions and networking
activities we try to foster cooperation between
European, Indonesian and ASEAN decision makers.
Overall, EIBN was successful in becoming a business
support service provider in its own right. In 2 years,
the Project built a solid structure and progressing
brand recognition, having been able to generate paid
business support services and missions, and to handle
around 180 business enquiries in Year 2 alone. Beyond
the business support numbers, EIBN expanded its
communication channels with newsletters and social
media, led the creation of the EU-ASEAN Business
Networks platform “brand”, features quarterly in a
leading business magazine, perfected an automated
business enquiry system, became Enterprise
Europe Network’s (EEN) contact point in Indonesia
and published valuable market research. Overall,
EIBN has established its credibility as a Gateway to
Indonesia for EU businesses.
