The first business delegation in 2015 kicked off with
the Technologies for safe Processing and Packaging
in F&B Industry delegation. EKONID, supported by
the German Engineering Federation Association
(VDMA) and the German Federal Ministry of
Economics and Energy (BMWi), invited six German
companies which are specialized in manufacturing
packaging and processing machineries. The
business delegation took place from the 17
th
to 20
th
of May 2015 in Jakarta. The delegation has been a
project of BMWi’s market development program for
SMEs. The delegation participants had the chance
to visit PT. Nippon Indosari Corpindo’s processing
plant and Indofood Group’s packaging factory.
Additionally, the “New Technologies to ensure
safety and hygiene for the F&B industry” conference
gave an overview of the current conditions of
the market and the potential in the sector. More
than 25 individual B2B meetings were arranged
between the German companies and the Indonesian
counterparts.
On the 16
th
of September 2015, EKONID welcomed
a delegation from the German LEG Thuringia,
a company that promotes the development of
the state of Thuringia. The delegation was led
by Franzisca Döll, who is the company country’s
Director for South Asia. The program was
supported by the European Fund for Regional
Development (EFRE) and the EU. The delegates
comprised of private companies and academia
that focus on renewable energy. Furthermore,
two separate schedules were arranged for
business and academic delegations which have
led them to visit several institutions, government
organizations, universities, and companies. The
6-day program not only introduced the political and
economical situation in Indonesia, but also provided
opportunities for networking and developing
valuable contacts.
In supporting Joko Widodo’s vision of making
Indonesia as a global maritime axis, EKONID,
together with the support of the BMWi, Ocean
Industries Association (VSM) and the Verband
Deutscher Maschinen-und Anlagenbau, the
German Engineering Federation Association
(VDMA) organized a maritime business delegation.
The program is to bring industry leaders, highly
specialized technology suppliers, and traditional
shipbuilders to Indonesia. The delegation took place
between the 4
th
and 8
th
of October 2015 in Surabaya
and Jakarta. The delegation, carried a total of 20
representatives from 18 small-and-medium-sized
maritime companies, which were accompanied by
EKONID during the visits to the ports, associations,
government organizations, and the headquarters of
the Indonesian Navy. From the visits, the German
companies were able to grasp different angles of
the Indonesian maritime sector and the potential
opportunities.
EKONID, supported by Eclareon GmbH, hosted a
business delegation which focused on photovoltaic
(PV) in early November 2015. The event was part
of the Renewable Energy Export Initiative of the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and
Energy (BMWi). Seven German SMEs introduced
their technologies to the 100 participants in the
“Decentralized PV systems – Opportunities and
Developments in Indonesia” forum. Moreover,
case studies from two Indonesian companies
were presented to illustrate the realities of the
PV market in Indonesia and conveyed indications
that cooperation between Germany and Indonesia
is possible and attractive. On the following day,
individual German companies, accompanied by
EKONID staff, conducted one-on-one meetings with
Indonesian companies.
The last business delegation in 2015 was with
the German Machine Builders’ Association (VDW)
Symposium on the 24
th
and 25
th
of November. Led
by Mr. Klaus-Peter Kuhnmϋnch and supported
by EKONID, the symposium was dedicated to the
automotive and aerospace industries as well as the
die and mold industry. Mr. Kuhnmϋnch opened the
symposium by introducing Germany’s benchmarking
technology expertise. About 100 local industry
representatives attended the conference to meet
their counterparts from 13 German companies.
Aligned with the conference, about 50 B2B meetings
with local industry players were arranged to evaluate
fields of collaboration.
