Presenting true German and Indonesian creativity in diversity and
promoting people-to-people relationship
Picturing the differences and attractions between the two countries would make a
long list; one has blonde, the other black haired folks; one has many writers, the other
many singers, one has winters, the other tropical beaches. Yet, like the north and
south poles of two magnets, Germany and Indonesia have attracted one another in a
mutually respecting and benefiting relationship for more than six decades.
The JERIN Festival aimed to promote the two countries’ desire to improve their
diplomatic, economic, cultural, and most importantly people-to-people relationship in
a lively celebration and to engage the local community in various German-Indonesian
cooperation activities.
The opening ceremony of JERIN Festival was held by the Ambassador of the Federal
Republic of Germany to Indonesia Dr. Georg Witschel, former Jakarta Governor Fauzi
Bowo, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta for Culture and Tourism Prof. Dr. Sylviana
Murni, Head of Market Management Allianz Indonesia Ms. Karin Zulkarnaen, President
Director of BMW Group Indonesia Mr. Ramesh Divyanathan and Managing Director of
EKONID Mr. Jan Rönnfeld.
During the JERIN Festival, from October 18

2013 in Jakarta, almost 10,000
visitors had the chance to enjoy three main programs: Urban Culture, JERIN Faces and
JERIN Careers.
Visitors interacted directly with graffiti artists at the Urban Culture Corner or watched
Live Graffiti on the roundabout, engaged in activities on the Exhibition Promenade or
enjoyed the German Food experience while listen to music concerts.
JERIN has achieved a lot: the program proved very interesting, impressive support of the
Indonesian media could be won, the JERIN Partners made big efforts to represent their
brands, institutions and activities. Local artists, foreign musicians and JERIN partners
regarded the Festival with one common message: Thank you for establishing the JERIN
platform, for bringing us together and for offering a path to future cooperations. The
Festival inspiringly presented true German and Indonesian creativity in diversity.
