GIZ COOPERATION
JOB FAIR
Providing industry perspective to support the school-work-
transition for TVET graduates
Since mid 2012 AHK Indonesia has engaged itself at greater intensity in the area of
career entry for technical and vocational education and training (TVET) graduates. The
aim of the engagement, is to further the development projects of the GIZ by providing
a much needed industry perspective.
In the summer of 2012, AHK Indonesia organized a booth for individual consultations in
Greater Jakarta, Surakarta and Purwokerto, as well as offered seminars themed “How
to write a resume?”, “Job Interview: Preparation and Execution” and “How do I bounce
back from job termination? The graduates and students were able to test their skills
in interview role-plays with the AHK’s Head of HR, while also receiving valuable input
on their performance. The event received positive feedback; and very popular was the
role-play practice. Seminar literature, booth setup and the subject matter experts were
provided by AHK and GIZ.
The high interest in the seminars has made evident, that seminars with themes of this
kind are in great demand within Indonesia’s technical and vocational schools.
In light of this, project partners AHK and GIZ have developed interactive materials as
part of a follow-up project. These study materials ecompass the themes “Jobsearch and
Career Entry” and have been designed to be ready for use by instructors and carreer
advisors in Indonesian vocational schools. Particularly important for the AHK and GIZ
project-team is that the lessons are conducted in a flexible and easy to follow manner.
Worksheets, schedules and other materials were also developed. The study material
package takes the form of a building-block system, which allows teachers to select
topics of special interest to them at any time, as well as to assign certain themese as
homework, or even to drop others.
