rubber plants. As the most important future trend he
pointed out substitution and sustainability.
In his end note he emphasized that “Indonesia is not
going to protectionist, Indonesia is open for business.”
European-Indonesian Business Dialogue (EIBD)
On 19th November 2014, the 5th European –
Indonesian Business Dialog (EIBD 2014) was held
at Shangri’La Hotel Jakarta. With Keynote speakers
H.E. Vice President Mohammad Jusuf Kalla and H.E.
Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European
Council presenting their perspective on the state-of-
affairs of EU-Indonesia relations . Also in attendance
were Suryo Sulisto, Chairman of the Indonesian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), Sofjan
Wanandi, former Chairman of the National Board of
Employers’ Association Indonesia (APINDO), Jakob
Friis Sorensen, Chairman of the European Business
Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) Indonesia, and Ms
Helena Konig, Acting Director Asia and Latin America,
DG Trade, European Commission, and Rahmat Gobel,
Minister of Trade, and Jonan Ignasius, Minister of
Transportation.
