2016 were Maritime & Aviation, Medical & Health Care, Renewable
Energies & Energy Efficiency, Waste Management and Vocational
Education & Training.
The two events that deserve to be highlighted in 2016 were the
annual European – Indonesia Business Dialog (EIBD), which took
place in November in Jakarta with the Indonesian Vice President,
H.E. Jusuf Kalla and the visiting EU Commissioner for Agriculture,
Phil Hogan, and of course the state visit of the Indonesian President,
Joko Widodo, in April to Germany.
EKONID was not only very actively involved in the organization
of the Business Forum, the preparations of a number of large
investment MoU-signings and high-level one-on-one business
leader meetings with the President, the Chairman, Vice-Chairman
and Managing Director also introduced President Widodo to the
German Dual Vocational System, which triggered a number of
follow up initiatives by the Indonesian government. More details on

website.
One internal highlight that should be mentioned due to the
amount of preparation work it required behind the scenes and the
importance for the staff, management and supervisory structure
of the organization, is the successful accomplishment of an official
audit process, conducted only every eight to ten years by the
German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and
the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry
(DIHK), the headquarter of AHK Indonesia / EKONID.
Our sincere appreciation and gratitude is dedicated to all our
members and clients, who, through their continued and generous
assistance and endorsement, made EKONID’s work and success
in 2016 possible. This support, combined with the dedication of
our highly motivated team, gives us the confidence to master all
challenges and opportunities ahead and to continue to promote
bilateral trade and investment between our great nations and to
carry on the representation of our member’s interest. A special
thank you should be contributed to the BMWi for their continued
financial support to EKONID, and to the German Embassy and the
other German, European and Indonesian institutions and partners,
in particular to our Premium as well as Law&Tax Network partners,
for maintaining and developing further our good cooperation.
